In those instances, it depends on how much you feel like you'd be comfortable nerfing! We have a few characters who have technology-based weaponry and functions that are fairly requisite for their capacity to be useful in combat or in a survival setting at all. In that case, we tend to impose a high chance of technological malfunction such as mechanical jamming or a possibility that it won't work at all, which we encourage the player to RNG to keep in the spirit of the game!
If you'd rather nerf that ability entirely to avoid that aspect, that would also be acceptable. However, we understand that wanting to deprive a character of an important aspect of their characterization that may reduce their usefulness in the setting, so we tend to take this on a case by case basis!
