Okay so... not being able to connect to the land is kind of a huge thing. He's a Druid, he's devoted himself to protecting the Earth for over 2000 years. Not feeling the land respond to him, the spirit of the land itself there beneath his feet welcoming him would be absolutely heartwrenching. Example from his App:
"There were times when I was blown away by the virgin beauty of the land— kind of like that guy who lost his shit on the Internet at the full double rainbow across the sky. Remember that guy? He kept asking what it meant. And it is not so difficult a question to answer. It means that we are loved, like all living things that Gaia sustains. There is a poetry in the canopies of forests and in the gentle roll of hills, a song in the wind and a benediction in the kiss of the sun. There are stories in the chuckle of waters in creeks, and epics told in the tides of oceans. There are trees, Granuaile, that seem sometimes like they have grown all their lives just to feel the touch of my hand upon their trunks, they are so welcoming to me. You will feel that welcome in your hands someday. You’ll feel it in your toes as you walk upon the earth. I cannot wait to see that love bloom in your eyes."
They're called elementals in his canon but it's really just the spirit of the land that he can communicate with. Not exactly speak to but close. The elementals usually only communicate in broad feelings or images. "Welcome" or "Gratitude" things like "Fear" or images of places they need help. (Logging operations, for example).
Speaking to a deity, who may or may not have the earth's best interests at heart, is a very different thing. If he's going to be cut off from the land itself then... there's plenty of implications about his powers, certainly, but more than that I don't know that I would be comfortable playing him with something so integral to him stripped away.
As for Oberon? I... have not Pokemon'd since I was like 12 so I will leave you with a classic piece of Hound logic.
