To Shion, no time at all will have passed from when he laid to rest on the evening of August 24th, up to the morning of September 2nd.
But of course, time most certainly has passed. To any companions (or indeed, anyone else he might think to ask), he seemingly disappeared overnight, only to return that morning. It seems no one on the island captured either of those moments, leaving the entire ordeal a complete mystery.
And try as he might, the only recollection Shion will have is a rather odd dream...
There is someone weeping at your back - the low, guttural, shuddering sobs of a loss both raw and immediate. The words being spoken to them are indistinct, muffled, but they speak loudly enough for the protest to crack through the haze of unreality that muffles the entire tragedy of the scene:
"Don't...don't go. Please."
You don't hear the answer. But you do hear the softness of departing footsteps.
You hear the wail of someone's grief.
You sit, stock still, and you listen to it happen. And you do nothing.

But of course, time most certainly has passed. To any companions (or indeed, anyone else she might think to ask), she seemingly disappeared overnight, only to return that morning. It seems no one on the island captured either of those moments, leaving the entire ordeal a complete mystery.
And try as she might, the only recollection Muffet will have is a rather odd dream...
You know this all-encompassing, singular chill, and the uniform darkness that greets you as you descend. You know it very, very well. If you look up, up, up into the sky, you can see the shimmer of distant light. The way out.
You can't focus on that now. You have a job to do, and very little time to do it. You can't leave just yet, as tempting as the option is. Nothing about this lack of light is natural, and you could turn around now and depart without consequences.
Instead, you proceed. You have to step delicately around the darkened humps scattered across the ground. There's no reason to be rude as you're traversing this dark, shadowed place that you too well. And besides...
It wouldn't do to wake them just yet.

Whether you run or you fight, you're doomed.
You know you're doomed. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter whether you were unfortunate enough to be dragged into the fray or whether you volunteered for this in the first place. Your weapons aren't enough to combat the looming, predatory snarl that arches far, far above your head.
Even as you think, you can feel the smoldering live coals of its eyes settling upon you. It moves faster than lightning, arcing downward with unerring accuracy. You can lash out, fight back, even try and run, but there's no escaping the inevitable. The thick stalk of its neck carries steel-trap jaws forward, forward and down, until hot strings of saliva spatter the ground at your feet and the rank stench of its breath fills your lungs.
The last thing you see is the curves of its fangs closing around you.

The fog around you is dense and faintly sweet-smelling, like incense. It distorts the distant shapes of the land, and makes the ground beneath your feet feel as though it might disappear at any moment. Little swirls of ash-like mist wisp up around your feet with every step forward.
Ahead, there are dark clumps of flowers. Even further, an ominous shape looms, a dark, filmy blot against the milk-white of the fog - perhaps a building, or something...else.
When you move forward, it feels as though you're drifting. The ground feels like it's not entirely there. The thick blanket of fog makes it difficult to say what's really waiting underneath each forward step.
One of the shadows in the distance detaches from the rest, and starts moving closer. It starts to resolve gradually, into something else, something familiar.
In the split second before the last veil of fog separating you from it wafts away, you could swear you're getting a glimpse of...
Yourself.

If you squint, there's a dark shape on the horizon. It looks a little like another island, though you can't remember there being one in this particular location. If you shade your eyes, and peer at it, it seems like the silhouette might be sharpening a little...
The ground under your feet rumbles and bucks, nearly tipping you off balance. You stumble. You right yourself quickly, shaking off the brief period of disorientation. These quakes and tremblings have been getting more and more frequent. The structural damage isn't immense, yet, but you can't dismiss the feeling that they're only going to get worse...
You scowl, but you return your attention to the horizon. You need to figure out what that shape in the distance is. You'd know if it was a new island, wouldn't you?
The shape has sharpened since the last time you looked. The dark shape is less of a hazy smear and more of a looming inkblot. You can make out the spiky shapes of something lining the top. Trees, maybe?
Whatever it is, it's getting closer.

Would you like to receive an additional response from the mods? If you like! Long story short, our contract with our internet service provider has gone. My landlady has got a new one that will arrive ASAP but because my region of Spain has imposed a fuckton of restrictions because of the Coronavirus so I’m not sure if they’ll come during that time. It’s absolutely chaotic and it’s going to last two weeks unless something further comes up. I’ll keep you all updated and try to mobile tag! But to be safe my hiatus might last a month.
