The night following their request, the Drifter dreams of dusk and an elysian pool, with water that seems to stand still. An ibex stands in its center, flowering vines carpeted down the length of their arching horns. The petals that fall from them seem to blink away from the water's clear and unshaken surface.
With a toss of their head, the Storyteller informs the Drifter that they have collected as many books as they were possibly able to while mitigating water damage. They have also secured an amount of supplies for cartography, calligraphy, book preservation, and a few miscellaneous things. When they are ready, the Drifter and their associates will be able to collect everything from the antechamber of the Storyteller's Temple.
Usually, the Storyteller intimates, they prefer that foreign objects be removed from their premises as quickly as possible. However - for this particular request, it's possible that they have procured more supplies than can be reasonably moved in a short amount of time. If this is the case, then - only this once, and for this purpose, the Storyteller is willing to allow the storage of some books in one of their own chambers.
Only the books.
So do not hold back from requesting more in the future, should you wish.
Using a total of 60 stories, the Storyteller has secured the following:
An extensive collection of survival texts, covering a wide range of topics from first aid to poultry rearing to knot-tying. There even appear to be some manuals of military origin among the collected books, though the exact nature of the governments to which they belong have largely been washed out. Regardless; the majority of the offering seems to have gone here.
A fair range of recreational books. This selection is less diverse, encompassing mainly the specific requests made by the Drifter, but the Storyteller has also thrown in a small selection of activity books for origami, dinosaur stickerbooks, crosswords, coloring pages, and puzzle books. It would appear, however, that they have confused Starflight's particular request to belong in this category - if one of the storybooks is anything to judge by.
Blank notebooks, both in lined and unlined varieties; as well as a small collection of ballpoint pens, feather pens and inkwells, graphite pencils, charcoal, erasers, paperless colored crayons, and a book of graph paper.
Several rolls of blank parchment, easily large enough to use for mapping. A cartography book has also been included; however, it details mainly the basics of mapping, and the geography used within will be unfamiliar to anyone who sees it.
The requested wax protectors and plastic bags. These are more limited in number, only about ten or so of each, in addition to the specific ones requested by Laurent.
Three additional bookshelves. While not particularly nice to look at, they are sturdy and solid, each one measuring approximately 48x60".
♆ A note! ♆
♆ The Storyteller used all 33 volunteered stories in addition to 27 of the Drifter's stories to obtain their total of 60 required to fulfill this request. This leaves the Drifter with ten stories remaining.
