LOCATIONS: ENSŌ
LOCATIONS: ENSŌ
As the first landmass characters are introduced to, Ensō is a large island comprised of predominantly jungle, with an even divide of beach and cliffs along its shores. There is a series of islets within sight of Ensō's northernmost edge.
Click on each map square to receive details on what has been discovered in the corresponding region. Squares containing the "₪" symbol signify the presence of a mana pool, which enables fast travel.
Landmarks of note are numbered on the map below.

Landmarks of note are numbered on the map below.
1. Storyteller's Temple: Located on the E5 square. There is a stuffed rabbit with two antler-like sticks glued to its head, propped up just outside the entrance. The structure itself is undoubtedly old, though its ruined appearance has gradually come to be improved over time so that it is sturdier. An altar and mana pool can be found within. If one wishes to contact the Storyteller to converse with them in person, they might do so here.
2. Mountain Temple: Located on the G2 square. The temple appears to be cut into the mountain itself, at its peak. The structure has been fortified and improved over time, and its mana pool is now once again functioning. A small garden has been set up within its walls.
3. Monkey Compound: Located on the D8 square. Constructed by the now-extinct gun-toting monkeys, the compound is a sturdy, walled construct that contains lumber, a small stretch of farmland, and abundant housing. Some have set up a small garden within the walls to grow alongside the plants that the monkeys cultivated, which can be used as a sedative and anesthetic. There is also a door that leads to the network of caverns beneath Ensō's surface, dangerous as they may be.
4. Denny, Library, and Carpentry: Located on the H5 square. "Denny" is a renovated mess hall turned restaurant, now containing rooms for cooking, storage, socializing, and eating. The Library is a simple structure containing desks and shelves, for storage of historical artifacts. The carpentry building is just beside Denny, serving as a warehouse-styled workshop with a number of workbenches, as well as shelves for storage of its numerous tools.
5. Infirmary: Located on the B6 square. A sturdy building that contains shelves and bed frames, but not much else.
6. Camp BASE: Located on the E6 square. The home of several islanders. Camp BASE - Bullshit Ass Sitting Area - contains a tent, several pets, and a number of traps and pitfalls meant to discourage animals or overly curious explorers with ill intent.
Searched Areas
D0 | ◆ FRUIT
Searched by Connor Murphy, Edward Elric, Hinata Hajime, Komaeda Nagito, Laurent, and Shion in June 2018. Ensō's mangroves continue on to the northernmost point of the beach. Though perhaps odd in appearance, to those with any understanding of botany, mango trees are rather plentiful amidst the other trees, on top of round, coconut-like fruits known as cannonball mangroves. Unlike mangoes, cannonball mangroves are completely inedible and will let you know this immediately with their distinctive and highly unpleasant smell - if they don't explode on you first.

Searched by Connor Murphy, Edward Elric, Hinata Hajime, Komaeda Nagito, Laurent, and Shion in June 2018. The mangroves from the D0 region gradually ease away and leave nothing but a stretch of unremarkable beach. Though several barrels from a long past cargo ship drifted past way to wedge themselves in the sand, these findings have long since been claimed.

Searched by Gobbet in October 2017. This stretch of cliff contained a great deal of dried wood in the form of numerous round logs - driftwood, or perhaps abandoned lumber from a bygone age. While there was once enough to create two shacks or one cottage from scratch, these findings have long since been claimed.

D1 | Ⴄ PREDATORS
Searched by Connor Murphy, Edward Elric, Hinata Hajime, Komaeda Nagito, Laurent, and Shion in June 2018. A large thicket of mangroves dot D1's shoreline. With the water much shallower in this area, it's easy to wade through the trees in search of fruit or other goods - and to regret that. Potentially immediately. Leechlorn are particularly plentiful in the midst of these trees. About the size of your fist, a single leechlorn will happily munch on you to their heart's content. While one is unlikely to take a fatal amount of blood, the numbing agent in their bite may make it difficult to tell how many are feasting on you in cloudy waters...

F1 | Ⴄ PREDATORS
Searched by Eichi Tenshouin, Kanata Shinkai, Shinobu Sengoku, and Takane Shijou in February 2018. This close to the mountains, the ground nearest to the ocean is predominantly rock, with multiple sharp inclines and steep drops for the less wary to drop into. Far more dangerous are the scattered remnants of the gun monkeys encountered in October 2017. More akin to apes than their smaller, cuter cousins, this ragtag group may very well be the last survivors of their kind - and they are not happy. They come equipped with coconut guns, which fire in spurts.

Searched by the Batter, Maka, Sachiko Shinozaki, and Terra Branford in November 2017. This close to the mountains, the ground closest the ocean is predominantly rock, with multiple sharp inclines and steep drops for the less wary to drop into. Unfortunately, the humidity will not help. The tempting sight of a wide, flat stretch of beach and the lessening of the humidity in the area may make for some hurried steps - but be warned, adventurers. Ovosoids call this area of land their home.

D2 | ѱ PREY
Searched by Connor Murphy, Edward Elric, Hinata Hajime, Komaeda Nagito, Laurent, and Shion in June 2018. The beaches of D2 are pockmarked with snapling nests, close as they are to the jungle's fringes. Aside from their skill at burying themselves in the sand to hide from potential predators, snaplings may just be numerous and prolific enough to serve as an adequate food source, though they're really no bigger than your average turtle. Provided you can find a way to pry open their shells, that is. Encased in a thick carapace of keratin and possessed of sharp claws and beady little crab's eyes, they certainly strike an odd picture.

G2 | ₪ MANA POOL
Searched by sixteen characters lead by Chara Dreemurr and Ardyn Izunia in September 2017. A new temple was discovered at these coordinates. Cut into the mountain itself, the temple is located inside the peak - practically invisible until one is right at the edge.
Slightly less worn than the Storyteller's, it appears that its location (and distance from the jungle) has allowed most buildings to stay predominantly upright, though the stones of the buildings are so weathered that any inscriptions or architectural delights have been worn away entirely. The largest building contains a mana pool, since restored into full functionality.
A large door takes up most of the wall opposite the building's entrance. Despite all attempts, both magical and non-magical, it will not open.
Some characters have taken to planting a small garden of flowers and assorted plants within.

I2 | δ BERRIES
Searched by the Batter, Maka Albarn, Sachiko Shinozaki, and Terra Branford in November 2017. A mostly easy walk along a flat stretch of beach. Along the shoreline, many thick clumps of mangroves grow, but there is still a clear and straightforward path through. Inspection of this vegetation will reveal two types of berries to be foraged.
Wombat berries are bright orange when ripe, and have a flavor akin to a coconut. Even more useful are the pigface berries. These purple fruits grow from the dead flowers on their trees, and can not only be used as another source of food, but as a treatment for worms. The leaves of this tree also have their uses, with application to the skin bringing relief from burns, rashes, bites, and stings.

Searched by the Batter, Maka Albarn, Sachiko Shinozaki, and Terra Branford in November 2017. The great stone slabs that make up this cliffside are mostly flat - through the influence of nature...or the careful guidance of long gone settlers. Between the rocks are craggy outcrops of grass, which are sometimes not grass at all, but grasstails.
While the remains of what might have once been a lighthouse were once present at the edge of those cliffs, it has since been relocated. The space is now empty, save for the cliffs.

A5 | Ⴄ PREDATORS
Searched by Ren and Seto in April 2018. The craggy, rocky coastal cliffs don't provide much in the way of easy traveling, but there are plenty of cracks and crevices that host tidepools in abundance. While much of A5 seems relatively quiet, some high-pitched chattering signals the presence of a lone gun monkey, one of the few survivors of its species-wide extinction. The simian is armed very lightly, bearing one coconut gun and strapped for ammunition, but the poor creature has been surviving on its own for long enough to have developed a sense of desperation - and a magnified craving for human flesh that was already there to begin with. Those that run across it will find it quite relentless. Hunger and isolation will have driven it to a highly weakened state, but it makes up for with with a sheer, overpowering desire to survive; it won't stop until it's either dropped dead from exhaustion or its quarry has...or if someone manages to stop it for good.

E5 | ♥ AVATAR ALTAR, ₪ MANA POOL
Searched by the new arrivals, led by Newton Geiszler, in August 2017. The beach curves up a gentle slope until it meets forest, some manner of building visible through the trees, built from cut stone. Known as the temple of the Storyteller, the architecture has been renovated and improved over time, so that it is much sturdier and fortified. In times of crisis, this structure can most often be used as a form of sanctuary.
The mana pool is located at the back of the temple, as is the altar. Any who wish to communicate with the Storyteller may do so here.

Searched by the Drifter and Marcille in August 2017. The jungle is thick in this square of the map. While there doesn't appear to be any major water-source, the density of the jungle itself leaves the air itself humid. A great source of not only food but hydrating water, a clever adventure may also use the shells for bowls...or empty husks as ammo.

H5 | ₪ MANA POOL, DENNY, LIBRARY, CARPENTRY
First uncovered by Jack Foley, Muffet, and Tim Wright in August 2017. The marshes have almost completely overtaken the remnants of some kind of ancient civilization; a collection of wooden huts and what may have once been a mess hall that have all fallen into significant disrepair. Small plots of land show signs of having been used for gardening. While they once provided adventurers with spring onions, leeks, and Chinese cabbage, these crops have since been relocated and harvested.
The region now hosts the communal restaurant known as Denny, owned by Tim Wright.
As of October 2018, the region also contains a library with a small number of writing implements and books, in addition to two shelves, one desk, and four chairs. As of January 2019, the region now also hosts a carpentry workshop, a warehouse-styled building containing a number of workbenches and shelves. The ground has been firmed up so that it's significantly less boggy, while retaining its easy access to the local water supply.
Dangers: N/A

Searched by the Batter, Maka Albarn, Sachiko Shinozaki, and Terra Branford in November 2017. I5 is almost cleanly cut in half by the estuary that stems from the nearby lake. First uncovered by Luna and Ren in October 2017. The region of B7 is largely a continuation of the regions surrounding it; dense with jungle, both thick and humid. A moderately large body of water joins with a stream that appears to spill off into the ribbon of water running along the rocky outcrops found on B8; it seems this is the source of that running water.
Aside from the thick, plumy trees whose canopies largely blot out the sun - though not the humidity, it should be noted - this region seems particularly rife with a great deal of shrubbery. Harmless, right? Not so. Mimicries are frequent here, and take great pleasure in preying on the unsuspecting traveler.

The jungle is extremely thick in this area, the canopy above blocking out the majority of natural light and leaving the area below as humid as the ruins are- but luckily, no more than that. The cliffs are pocked with the occasional tidepool, and the travelers may be fortunate enough to spot a rock crab or two scuttling along the crags. Aside from that, however, there isn't much of note. The region was struck by a small earthquake, likely only felt on the very edges of the island itself. It crumbled away a significant portion of A8's long-eroded cliffs, until the entire region threatened to sink into the ocean. First uncovered by Lup, Taako, Muffet, Wade Wilson, Commander Shepard, Roy Greenhilt, Edward Elric, Guzma, Ardyn Izunia, and Laurent in September 2017. The clearing itself, easily the size of a soccer field, sits in a blaze of sunlight and wide strokes of rippling jungle grass. Fallen logs and pools of glimmering water stretch forward across the landscape. On all sides of the clearing, a line of thick, green trees form vast ramparts of foliage, walling in the area with almost militaristic efficiency. And in the distance, past the pools and logs and trees, rises an enormous structure carved from pointed stone and glossed with beautiful, blue-green ivy, shimmering like gray fog in the heat-haze.
With the defeat of the monkeys has come an appropriation of their supplies, houses, and territory. A further request by Amateratsu has ensured the land itself is purified, lush and ready for use by those seeking a new home. No one would ever know the area had once been the site of a vicious battle.

Among them are scatters of of large, golf ball-sized seeds that turn out to belong to a species known as manicara saccifera, more colloquially known as the sea coconut. Some fist-sized, dark green fruits may be identifiable as seeds for box fruit, also known as the "fish poison tree" or "sea poison tree." True to its title, most every part of this fully-grown specimen is poisonous - but it is also quite handy in trapping fish, for precisely that reason. Lastly, handfuls of multi-colored, slightly oblong seed pods will yield growth to a type of tree resembling the tropical almond, whose use extends well beyond its edible if slightly acidic and bitter-tasting fruit. A fully grown tropical almond tree can be used for teas and herbal infusions, and its wood is highly water resistant.

Searched by Commander Shepard, Kravitz, and Ren in June 2018. At the island's southern edge is another lonely crag of sea-cliff, seemingly unpopulated and all in all quite unremarkable. C9 | 〄 NON-PREDATOR OBSTRUCTION
First uncovered by Gobbet in October 2017; explored thoroughly by Lup, Newt Geiszler, and Roy Greenhilt in November 2017. Southwest of the now-abandoned monkey compound, the trees break abruptly into scores of harsh sunlight, and the smell of salt forewarns a steep downward sloping of terrain. C9 empties into an enormous cove of glittering white sand and ocean, walled at the western end by high-rising cliffs, at the top of which rests a thick grove of trees. Beautiful, to be sure, but the it's from this thicket that a rather irritating sound begins to emit...thanks to the cicadin that nest there.

D9 | § SALT
Searched by Connor Murphy by boat in December 2017. In the northern reaches of this square the water is just clear enough to see to the ocean floor, perhaps a good twenty feet down. And below the water? Shimmering clumps the salt deposits that rest on the ocean floor. Unfortunately, more tools would be required to obtain it.

E9 | ∅ EMPTY
First uncovered by Ren, Crow, Drifter, and Edward in September 2017. The cliffs signify one of the south-most points of the island; unfortunately, adventurers will find very little to satisfy their curiosity. The ocean continues on seemingly without end, no other islands to be seen. A few stubborn pterax may have taken roost here and there, but if you're looking for some tasty meat or eggs of your own, you'd be better off looking elsewhere.

F9 | ☉ CONTAMINATED WATER
First uncovered by Lup, Ren, and Chara Dreemurr in November 2017. In F9, the river continues flowing southbound towards the ocean in full splendor - for a little while. A swath of bright beachline creeps up to meet the jungle, and down the rolling hills of sand, an unfortunate shift in the river's health can easily be seen. The riverbed in this area has long eroded into murky sand, giving the formerly crystalline water a clouded tint as it continues its winding path down into the ocean. You're not likely to want to drink from the river at this point, but F9 is otherwise a temperate, peaceful square.

G9 | Ɏ VEGETABLES/ROOTS
Searched by Zacharie in December 2017. The soft, silty sands of G9's beach region are home to a tall-stemmed, fragrant flower with several layers of petals and long, thin bladed leaves. A thick outer layer curls over the inner, softer layer in a ring of bright, blue while the inner layer is a soft off-white. Two seed pods dangle from the inner cup, rattling softly if shaken. Bluescythe cradles are useful due to how the thick outer leaves can be brewed into a sweet, fragrant tea. The seed pods can also be chewed to cause drowsiness and numbness of the mouth and throat.
