C2 | Ⴄ PREDATORS

Searched by Gladiolus Amicitia and Tim Wright in June 2018. C2 leads down to the waterline, clumps of shrubs and hedges dotting the landscape with a thin strip of beach right at the water's edge. Further investigation into the square's thickets of wild growth may very well lead to an encounter of a different kind, but likely just as welcome. Exceptionally large, two shrumal ogres call this place their home. With their usual food resources scare, they'll be keen to take a bite out of anything that comes close enough- unless, of course, something takes a bite out of them first.

Dangers: Shrumal ogres

D2 | ⊗ CATASTROPHE

Searched by Gladiolus Amicitia and Tim Wright in June 2018. Breaking out of the woods and onto the hillside, any potential relief is bound to be shortlived. Completely undeterred by the crumbling island beneath it, a fustercluck patrols its territory in a rather sedate fashion.

Dangers: Fustercluck

C3 | Ⴄ PREDATORS

Searched by Chara Dreemurr and Lup in May 2018. Situated at the northwest corner of Ziziphus, C3's rich meadows are include plenty of small white blooms peppered among the gold-colored bluffs. The coastal air makes for a pleasant atmosphere, and those yellow-green flowers peeping out from the dirt are so very pretty...

...until the flower stops being a flower, and starts being something much worse. C3 contains a great deal of Plant Beasts, and none of them are friendly.

Dangers: Plant Beasts

D3 | Ⴄ PREDATORS

Searched by Ardyn Izunia, Edward Elric, Gladiolus Amicitia, the Hunter, Kravitz, Lup, and Noctis Lucis Caelum in May 2018 in the midst of an Exploration Event. Adventurers faced an onslaught of the local god's vines, as Bliss put up a notable fight against the interlopers. The woodland grows progressively denser the closer they draw to the god's dwelling place, meaning there's less room to maneuver. The ground is soft and spongey underfoot as vines thoroughly carpet the grass, reaching desperately to delay the travelers in any way they can.

In the chaos, a group of angry mantisks saw fit to attempt to defend their homes from the angry invaders, offering something else to contend with on top of Bliss's defense.

After Bliss's defeat, the region was re-searched by Gladiolus Amicitia and Tim Wright in June 2018. In the process, they uncovered a number of cotoneaster berry bushes.

Dangers: Mantisks, hostile vines
Resources: Cotoneaster berries
F3 | Ⴄ PREDATORS

Searched by Commander Shepard, Futaba Sakura, Keith Kogane, Mira, and Shion in May 2018 in the midst of an Exploration Event. Adventurers faced an onslaught of the local god's vines, as Bliss put up a notable fight against the interlopers. The woodland grows progressively denser the closer they draw to the god's dwelling place, meaning there's less room to maneuver. The ground became soft and spongey underfoot as vines thoroughly carpet the grass, reaching desperately to delay the travelers in any way they can.

F3 also hosted some large, babbling shrumal ogres, most upset by the multiple disturbances upon their territory, and willing to put up a fight to protect their habitat.

Dangers: Shrumal ogres, hostile vines

G3 | ѱ PREY

Searched by Muffet in May 2018. Beyond Bliss's withered husk, the forest trickles off into thinning copses of scraggly trees, until eventually the island peters off into an open meadow. G3 opens into a familiar landscape of sweeping grassland - likely a welcome respite from the dense, foul-smelling woodland at the heart of Bliss's domain.

Scattered among G3's meadows are curious, multicolored tufts that are quite a bit too large to be flowers - a group of sheeplike flowccus. Should anyone approach any of them directly, she'll discover that they don't seem to very much mind the company.

Dangers: N/A
Resources: Flowccus
B4 | ☉ POISONOUS FLOWERS

Searched by Keith Kogane and Takashi Shirogane in May 2018. To the west of B4, the lapping of waves crests the edge of the rolling hills. The landscape dips and swells in irregular, meandering shifts, but is otherwise quite unobjectionable. The buff-colored and thick green grass does seem rather colorful in patches. As adventurers peruse B4 at greater lengths, they'll discover deep indigo splotches of flowers liberally coating the slopes of the hills of the region. If well-schooled in botany, they'll be able to identify the growths as blooms of lobelia. While lobelia and its many variants are generally considered ornamental plants, most of the genus is highly toxic. Its medicinal uses are sparse and prone to adverse effects, such as nausea, vertigo, and vomiting.

Some lobelia variants contain lobeline, which can have chemical effects similar to nicotine, but significantly more dangerous. The medicinal properties are rather limited by the fact that a medically safe dose is not so very far from a potentially lethal one.

Dangers: Lobelia

C4 | ѱ PREY ANIMALS

Searched by Keith Kogane and Takashi Shirogane in May 2018. The region of C4 is two-thirds meadow, but it's the the thin slice of woodland that contains the real prize. Keith and Shiro will enter the woods to a chorus of low hooting, in time to see a plantlike flurry of feathery green start winging out through the trees - a flock of owl-like arboreali.

Dangers: N/A

The woodland grows progressively denser the closer they draw to the god's dwelling place, meaning there's less room to maneuver. The ground became soft and spongey underfoot as vines thoroughly carpet the grass, reaching desperately to delay the travelers in any way they can.

D4 also contained a nest of rootwyrms that were more than a bit perturbed to have so much activity crawling over their territory.

After Bliss's defeat, the region was re-searched by Gladiolus Amicitia and Tim Wright in June 2018. They discovered very little but a great deal of lumber from the trees felled in the chaos.

Dangers: Rootwyrms, hostile vines
Resources: Toppled oak and pine trees for timber
E4 | EXPLORATION EVENT TRIGGERED

Searched by Damianos and Laurent in May 2018. The moment they set foot in the region, the vague scent of rot on the breeze abruptly thickened to a cloying, nausea-inducing intensity. The trees, though densely clustered, were crusted and grayed, as though dying. Which is roughly when the ground began to shift, and stopped being the ground at all. Instead, it turned into vines: thick, crawling, and hungry.

All with a very specific purpose in mind.

The ground became soft and spongey underfoot as vines thoroughly carpet the grass, reaching desperately to delay the travelers in any way they can.

The wooded region of F4 also happened to be packed with spindlanks, all of which were none too happy to be sharing their territory with a mess of writhing, angry vines.

G3 | ѱ PREY

Searched by Muffet in May 2018. G4 is patchier in the way of grassland, the bluffs rounding off into smooth-sanded beaches that taper toward the sandbar visible from the island's northeast edges. If one peers close, they'll discover something of note about said sandbar - the fact that it's not unoccupied. What initially seems to be a clump of trees turns out to be something else entirely. The treeclops dwelling there make excellent potential resources, for the genuinely cunning.

Dangers: N/A
Resources: Treeclops
B5 | Ɏ ROOTS/HERBS

Searched by Hinata Hajime and Shion in April 2018. B5 is open to the coastal air, with sweeping bluffs and fields of flower-speckled green and gold, shimmering as they ripple in the wind. A few clumps of grass in the B5 area have thicker stems than one might expect, sprouts bearing some bulbous roots with a sharp, pungent smell - garlic. Not only is garlic edible and an ideal garnish for most any meal, but it has some potentially invaluable medicinal qualities as well. It has mild antibiotic qualities and stimulates the lymphatic system to boost one's immune system, and has also been used as an organic antidepressant. Even better, it's very easily transferred and grown elsewhere.

Additionally, a few stiff stalks of green bear some thick, knobby roots of ginger, known for its distinctive taste and scent as well as its capacity to clear sinuses and aid with digestion.

Dangers: N/A
Resources: Garlic, ginger
C5 | 〄 OBSTRUCTION

The region of C5 is an uneven split, with waist-height grass bleeding into a copse of slender trees bordering on the denser woodland. The golden-green stalks whisper scratchily as travelers pass them by, and the plentiful shade provided by the thin canopies paints a picture that's almost pleasant. It's for the best that C5 isn't too densely layered with woodland, because the sharp-eyed may spot the odd glinting thread stretched between tree trunks and latticed along the mossy ground. Hopefully they'll see fit to call attention to those glimmering threads before anyone walks into them, as they're the only indication as to the presence of weavils - so named for their habits of weaving delicate, nearly invisible threads of web so as to best survey any potential threats in their territory. When those threads are stepped on or broken, the weavil, resembling a cross between a spider and a centipede, tries to go for whatever bare skin it might see. While they might not be much bigger than your average centipede, weavils can deliver a nasty nip that can make you incredibly ill for hours.

Dangers: Weavils
Resources: N/A
D5 | 〄 OBSTRUCTION

D5 is, by contrast, much more thickly forested. This will provide more shade and a very picturesque scene indeed...as long as you don't mind the foolsblooms hidden among the undergrowth. Given their penchant for concealing themselves beneath carpets of moss and leaf mulch, it's only really possible to pick out the presence of foolsbloom by noting the sharp, leafy edges that poke out from around the dirt of their hiding place. Wander too close, and a pair of great, fernlike jaws will snap tight around you, like those of a giant venus fly trap, draining travelers of about ten to fifteen percent of their blood unless interrupted.

The region also featured a unique encounter. Anyone who may have heard of the strange, rootlike vines frequenting the island may recognize the general look and shape of them, just as they may recognize the tigerlily that appears to be quite...quite wrapped up in them. The vines immediately withdrew and dispersed into the undergrowth upon being approached, leaving nothing but the thick scent of rot. Closer examination of the tigerlily determined it had died of a combination of dehydration and malnutrition.

Dangers: Foolsbloom

E5 | ◆ FRUIT

Searched by Goro Akechi, Kanata Shinkai, the Liberator, Shouto Todoroki, and Tim Wright in April 2018. The deep verdure only continues to intensify further into the heart of Ziziphus. E5 is darker and cooler than the open fields previously explored, with curtains of white sunlight slanting through gaps in the thick canopy with irregularity. Travelers should watch their step, as gnarled tree roots twist and turn along the forest floor, weaving together in moss-carpeted lattice patterns. The foliage in this region shows no sign of thinning anytime soon.

E5 contains a grove of wild cherimoyas. Growing just as beautifully green as the short, oval-shaped leaves that nest them, a mature cherimoya fruit may look strange, with a speckled skin that takes on an almost scaly texture. The lustrous white meat within is said to have a uniquely tropical taste, comparative to the sweet and light notes of strawberries, bananas, and even pineapples. Of course, the trees are also, categorically, both flammable and wood-based.

Dangers: N/A
Resources: Cherimoya fruit/trees
F5 | Ɏ ROOTS/HERBS

Searched by Jules Dagger Samari and Shion in May 2018. F5 sees breaks through the forest and out to the open air, a shallow slope curving all the way down to the ocean. Within the bay ahead, a small island can be seen - though closer investigation gives the appearance that it may just be a sandbar. Venturing down to the waterline will take travelers through thick shrubbery, some of which is up to twenty feet tall. While making it rather easy to get turned around, the abundance of yellow-orange berries on these shrubs allow the plants to be identified as sea buckthorn, the leaves of which can be used to treat coughs, fever, and chronic pain. The juice of the berries has similar properties. Underfoot, an interesting variety of purple flowers can be found in clumps. Purple coneflowers have their uses in treating infections and wounds, but make for a useful panacea.

Dangers: N/A
Resources: Sea buckthorn, purple coneflowers
B6 | ☉ POISONOUS FLOWERS

Searched by Hinata Hajime and Shion in April 2018. The region of B6 is speckled with cup-shaped white blooms, but should anyone tread on them, they'll note that the juice that leaks from the crushed petals and stem is a deep, vibrant red, revealing it to be sanguinaria - better known as bloodroot. The reddish sap can be an effective dye if needed, but that is where its use ceases for all but the particularly morbid. The toxicity of bloodroot is so potent that the sap's mere contact with the skin will lead to blistering and scabbing, and in severe cases even permanent disfigurement. More dire instances of bloodroot poisoning will induce a coma, and soon after, death.

It's best not to venture here barefoot.

Dangers: Bloodroot, which is highly toxic to bare skin
Resources: Despite its lethality, bloodroot can be used to create red dyes
C6 | ☉ POISONOUS FLOWERS

Searched by Akechi and Akira in April 2018. The C6 region is a land divided: half meadow, rich and green, with the other half diverging into the edge of the woodland that extends into Ziziphus's heart. The trees here are sparse and loosely scattered, not nearly as dense as things are liable to get the closer one gets to the island's center. Larkspur grows here in dense, vertical clumps.

Dangers: Larkspur, which, if ingested, is highly toxic.
Resources: While poisonous, the flowers can be turned into usable ink.
D6 | Ⴄ PREDATORS

Searched by the Liberator and the Knight in April 2018. D6 hosts a thin scatter of slender trees, increasing in density and scope the further the silent pair will progress toward the island's heart. The musty scent of leaf mulch and peat suggests that this land has been largely untouched for a great deal of time... but beware of this ruse, as treacherous and hungry spidlanks lurk beneath the ferns.

Dangers: Spindlanks
Resources: N/A
E6 | Ɏ ROOTS/FLOWERS

Searched by the Knight and Yuka Ichijou in April 2018. The scattered trees grow progressively denser the closer to the island's heart one gets. The area seems oddly quiet, despite the vegetation that flourishes in abundance. If there were any living creatures in the area, they are either long gone or keeping to themselves for the time being. Still, the lack of even the ambient sounds of birdsong or scurrying mosslings may be unsettling. Among the sprouts of sapling-like, thin-trunked trees are clusters of soft-barked trees with rich green leaves: a copse of trema orientalis, also known as charcoal-trees. Not only is the bark highly useful for the production of paper, rope, and charcoal, but charcoal-trees are also known for their medicinal properties. The leaves and the bark are used to treat coughs, sore throats, asthma, bronchitis, gonorrhea, yellow fever, toothache, and as a general antidote to nonspecific poisons - useful, considering the number of toxic flowers in the area! It can also, in a pinch, be used as a mild pain reliever and anti-arthritic.

Dangers: N/A
Resources: Charcoal-trees
F6 | ◆ FRUIT

Searched by Ignis Scientia and Soma Cruz in April 2018. F6 is denser in woodland than the squares preceding it. Carpets of moss frequently diverge into dense clumps of brambles and thorny tangles of vines, which may make it difficult to navigate. However, F6 contains what may prove an invaluable resource. A grove of the trees in the region bears fruits flush with rich nebulae of color, ranging from yellow to deep crimson, identifiable as apricots.

Dangers: N/A
Resources: Apricots
G6 | 〄 OBSTRUCTION

Searched by Foster van Denend in June 2018. G6 is thick with woodland; the withered remains of Bliss's root structure and searching vines can be found draped off trees and straggling in the grass like deflated balloons, already stinking of rot. The rich woodland of G6 is largely unremarkable, save for the vibrant orange blooms that occasionally spatter the ground. Just be careful not to draw too close. Sleepspoors can be rather...volatile, if they perceive a threat, largely by releasing puffs of soporific pollen toward anyone foolish enough to tread upon them.

Dangers: Sleepspoors
Resources: N/A
H6 | ☉ POISONOUS FLOWERS

Searched by Foster van Denend in June 2018. H6 opens into a clear meadow, devoid of trees, and unfortunately host to a rather dangerous type of flower.. These particular blooms vary in color from white to butter-yellow to even a dark, violent purple. They sprout from the ground in thick, highly visible clumps, distinguishable by their bell-shaped blossoms. They're known colloquially throughout different regions of the world as devil's trumpets; as thorn-apples, moonflowers, hell's bells, jimsonweed, or devil's weed. Their scientific name is datura, and both their seeds and their petals are deadly poisonous.

Symptoms of datura poisoning include hyperthermia (high fever and increased body heat), tachycardia (increased heart rate), dilated pupils, painful photophobia, an increase in bizarre and violent behavior, and anticholinergic delirium (inability to distinguish between fantasy and reality). Selective amnesia has also been reported upon being subjected to datura poisoning. If not given care between twenty-four and thirty-six hours, the patient will probably succumb to death if they've consumed vast enough quantities.

Dangers: Datura flowers

I6 | Ⴄ PREDATORS

Searched by Chara Dreemurr, Connor Murphy, Edward Elric, Futaba Sakura, Muffet, Shion, and Xion in June 2018. While I6 sees little change in scenery and elevation, it is home to a rather sizable group of mantisks. Thanks to the amount of critters attempting to flee from the north, this particular group is well-fed; but they will most certainly pick off any lagging party members who show signs of vulnerability.

Dangers: Mantisks
Resources: N/A
B7 | Ⴄ PREDATORS

Searched by Mira in April 2018. B7 hosts a relatively peaceful scene - waves lapping up against the amber-and-green fields of grass. For the most part, it is a tranquil enough picture...as long as travelers do not get too close to the water, Octonettles linger in those foam-edged shallows.

Dangers: Octonettle ink, which is corrosive to mucous membranes
Resources: Parts of the Octonettle itself are edible, with its hide containing toolmaking uses due to its elasticity
C7 | ⊗ CATASTROPHE

Searched by Mira in April 2018. The fields of C7 are peaceable, almost picturesque. What a pity that explorers won't be able to enjoy the sight, as a Fustercluck rolls hungrily about these hills.

Dangers: Stop. Don't read this. Just run.
Resources: Do not eat it!!
D7 | 〄 OBSTRUCTION

Searched by Shion, Aster, and Connor in April 2018. As pleasant as the woodlands of D7 can be, travelers ought to be careful as they traverse the dense carpets of moss - and they would do well to keep an eye out for sections of leaf-mulch that tremble underfoot, the shadows of Foolsblossoms barely visible beneath the veils of fallen leaves and clumps of ferns.

Dangers: Semi-exsanguination via the sharp jaws of a Foolsblossom
Resources: Unless you'd like to risk a limb uprooting venus beartraps for your personal trap collection, probably none
E7 | ѱ PREY ANIMALS

Searched by Shion, Aster, and Connor in April 2018. E7 is rich in greenery, and adventurers may even discover a far more placid creature frequenting the scattered woodland of E7 - for Tigerlilies reside in this square.

Dangers: Tigerlilies, which are peaceable by nature, but produce soporific pollen when provoked
Resources: None, unless you're interested in trying to tame a tigerlily
F7 | ѱ PREY ANIMALS

Searched by Ardyn Izunia and Ignis Scientia in April 2018. F7 is flush with woodland, groves of thin trees jutting out across the landscape in irregular patches. The grass is thick and leafy underfoot, and the odd clump of moss will blink its bright yellow eyes open and reveal a small colony of mosslings hidden among the undergrowth.

Idyllic as the tranquil scene and the wealth of mosslings scattered about may be, F7 also featured a unique occurence. What appeared to be a thick, ropy vine was almost easily mistaken for a root or a fallen tree, given that the shade and texture of it resembled bark. It only briefly interacted with both travelers before abruptly receding into the undergrowth. The surrounding bracken makes it impossible to tell where it may have gone, but the smell as the vine made its departure - sweet, sickly, and stinking of rot - lingers still.

Dangers: N/A
Resources: Mosslings
G7 | Ⴄ PREDATORS

Searched by Kravitz, Lup, Magnus Burnsides, Merle Highchurch, and Taako in May 2018. G7 is flush with yet more woodland, though the further south one goes, the thinner the trees become. The edge of the forest peters out to the tickle of yet more tall grass at the bottom of the region, opening into Ziziphus's expansive meadow.

Unfortunately, those trees host a draconic colony of rootwyrms - vicious and territorial, rootwyrms spit a caustic, stinging acid if they can't get close enough to their prey, though they'll be more than happy to try and dispatch you the old-fashioned way: with an extremely large set of reptilian jaws.

Dangers: Rootwyrms
Resources: Timber
H7 | ◆ FRUIT

Searched by Chara Dreemurr, Connor Murphy, Edward Elric, Futaba Sakura, Muffet, Shion, and Xion in June 2018. H7 runs from the edge of the jungle to the waterline, sloping hills that turn into a thin bar of sand. The tiny inlet would potentially have made for a good place to anchor a boat. Of far greater interest are the small plants that dot the landscape. With odd, pod-like leaves and adorned with purple flowers, the plant is most commonly known by the name of its seeds - chia is often used in a variety of foods, one of the most popular being puddings! How nice!

Dangers: N/A
Resources: Chia seeds
I7 | 〄 OBSTRUCTION

Searched by Chara Dreemurr, Connor Murphy, Edward Elric, Futaba Sakura, Muffet, Shion, and Xion in June 2018. Heading back into the jungle from the shores of I7, the woods become thick near immediately, providing some blissful relief from the hot sun. Regardless, now is hardly the time to relax, as the journey takes on a sudden air of deja vu...because of course this area would be home to yet another crop of sleepspoors.

Dangers: Sleepspoors
Resources: N/A
A8 | Ɏ ROOTS/HERBS

Searched by Seto in April 2018. The slender stretch of land in the region of A8 is largely unremarkable. Sparse clumps of grass rustle faintly in the crisp sea breeze with sprouts of brightly-colored flowers nestled among the bluffs. They range in color from butter-yellow to sunset-orange: a crop of marigolds. While they are edible in a pinch, their most applicable use by far is their medicinal properties. When made into a poultice, marigolds can be invaluable in the treatment of open wounds, burns, and irritated skin due to their mild anti-inflammatory properties and ability to prevent infection.

Dangers: N/A
Resources: Marigolds
B8 | Ɏ ROOTS/HERBS

Searched by Kanata Shinkai, Ritsu Sakuma, Shinobu Sengoku, and Takane Shijou in April 2018. As the ground of B8 levels out into flat terrain, a respectable stretch of spring-green grass peters out into white shoals of sand that meet the tumbling sea. Growing in resplendent patches in this area are thick clusters of Sambucus, better known as elderberries. While mildly toxic in their natural form, elderberries have applications in pain relief and treatment for flu-like symptoms when properly handled. They're even suited to tea, for those with a more sophisticated palate!

Dangers: N/A
Resources: Elderberries
C8 | ѱ PREY ANIMALS

Searched by Amaterasu, the Drifter, Frisk, the Knight, and Otus in April 2018. The steady slopes of the hillside finally begin to dwindle down into the edges of thick forest. The sloping hills of C8 veer on sharper and sharper angles, the closer one strays to the forest's edge. What may initially appear to be a tuft of particularly springy moss will, on closer inspection, prove to be something a little bit more. The area is rife with mosslings, placid and peaceable creatures that are more startling for the easily spooked than they are genuinely dangerous.

Dangers: N/A
Resources: Mosslings
D8 | ☉ POISONOUS FLOWERS

Searched by Amaterasu, the Drifter, Frisk, the Knight, and Otus in April 2018. Dotting the landscape of D8 in patches of purple, blue, and white, are multitudes of flowers that all share one, strong, similarity. Falling under the family Acontinum, these flowers may be better known by the names blue rocket, queen of poisons, or wolf's bane. Exceptionally toxic, these flowers can be used for poisoning the edges of weapons for hunting.

Dangers: Poisonous flowers
Resources: Poisonous flowers, for those who can make use of them
E8 | ⊗ CATASTROPHE

Searched by Edward, Ginko, and Tim in April 2018. Along its southern coast, Ziziphus remains largely littoral, with patches of uneven grass interspersed between pebbles and sand. Perhaps strangely, the air here seems quite still; indeed, even a backdrop of gentle, low buzzing from insects down in the grass seems to be absent... perhaps because a Center of Gravity tears the fabric of space and time in this square.

Dangers: De-molecularization via black hole
Resources: N/A
F8 | ◆ FRUIT

Searched by Edward, Ginko, and Tim in April 2018. Should intrepid explorers arrive at F8, a tranquil sight rushes to greet them: wild strawberries grow in thick, lush patches along the hillside. Free from their natural pests, who dare not tread an area so close to the neighboring square, these strawberries have grown to the size of large radishes, with deep, ruby-red coloring and skin that shines in the sunlight.

Dangers: N/A
Resources: Jumbo wild strawberries
G8 | Δ TIMBER

Searched by Ignis Scientia and Mira in April 2018. The woodland grows progressively less dense the further south the travelers go, until it lips the edge of yet more grass-rich meadows that extend beyond the boundaries of the region. While the trees are more scattered, there's an abundance of toppled trunks and smashed branches, as though something very large might have blundered through this way. Fortunately for the intrepid explorers, there's no indication that the culprit is anywhere to be seen. Due to how much of the forest has been unceremoniously flattened, a great deal of timber is ripe and ready for harvesting - and no one even has to go to the trouble of cutting it down, first. Travelers may recognize the potential lumber as belonging to a species of tree known as flowering dogwood, distinct due to its clusters of white petals. The hard wood is very sturdy and shock resistant, and the roots can be used to make red dyes.

The region also featured a trio of vines that almost seemed as though they were following the explorers - draped over trees, whispering through the grass and dirt, disappearing into the underbrush. The things swiftly disappeared upon being noticed, and left next to no clues as to where or how they might have done so.

Dangers: N/A
Resources: Flowering dogwood trees
G8 | Ⴄ PREDATORS

Searched by Kravitz and Taako in May 2018. The region of H8 is quieter, to be certain. The grassland melts seamlessly into a series of bluffs overlooking the ocean at the southernmost edge of the island. To the north, Ziziphus's woodland is clearly visible, but for the most part, H8 consists of more of its sweeping meadows and rolling hills. On the right day, the weather can almost make this place seem pleasant. If adventurers steer clear of the shallows, they'll have nothing to worry about. If they decide to explore the surrounding waters, however, they'll soon encounter a dense patch of octonettles.

The region also contained a number of vines that came snaking through the grass like very ugly, knobbly snakes. Said vines were quite eager to wind up their ankles and attempt to drag them off in the direction of the woodland - though when attacked, the vines immediately receded, seemingly vanishing as quickly as they came without much of a trace at all, save for the telltale reek of sweet decay and rot.

Dangers: Octonettles, hostile vines
Resources: Octonettles
I8 | Δ TIMBER

Searched by Chara Dreemurr, Connor Murphy, Edward Elric, Futaba Sakura, Muffet, Shion, and Xion in June 2018. Trees, trees, and even more trees. That's all that awaits those who dare tread in square I8. For some, this is perhaps a disappointing end to a very eventful trip. Those with keener eyes and an understanding of botany or building supplies, however, may still have it in them to recognize the trees about them as Acer laurinum - a variation of maple tree that can not only be tapped for their sap, but make for flexible building supplies in a fix.

Dangers: N/A

A9 | ₪ MANA POOL

The site of new arrivals in April 2018. The mana pool glimmers with a greenish light, the stone ring containing that peculiar fluid set firmly into the earth. The surrounding land fits neatly into that general aesthetic: rippling fields stirred by the occasional crisp breeze alternate between amber-golden and rich, verdant green in coloration, and irregular patches of color signify the presence of a great deal of flowers of all sorts.

Dangers: N/A

B9 | Ⴄ PREDATORS, 〄 OBSTRUCTION

The site of new arrivals in April 2018, and later explored further by Kanata Shinkai, Ritsu Sakuma, Shinobu Sengoku, and Takane Shijou. This peaceful sweep of grassy hill is plagued by carnivorous creatures known as spindlanks, which prey on the unwary travelers by initially appearing to be little more than colorful tufts of grass before hauling themselves up on long legs and seeking to devour their prey whole.

Even worse, the uneven, wheeling hills in B9 lurch suddenly into a downward slope, where a grove of trees appear to have grown too large for their roots to remain latched into the steep hill. The landscape here is littered with fallen logs, rooted deep into the earth by overgrowth down to the very bottom of the hill. With a slightly marshy terrain at its bin, this area has made itself home to a number of ribbiting mushrooms known as frungals. While not nearly as dangerous as spindlanks, frungals are nonetheless capable of exuding toxic spores that can generate a painful rash on the skin for hours on end.

C9 | Ɏ ROOTS/HERBS

Searched by Damen, Laurent, and Prompto Argentum in April 2018. The rolling hills of Ziziphus continue onward in air both crisp and littoral, with the ocean's waves at the square's southernmost edge. The hills nearest to the coast will boast some sprouts of plants of a considerably denser nature compared to the surrounding grass. The thick, fleshy leaves are speckled with pale flecks of white-beige to offset their base gray-green: sprouts of aloe vera.

Resources: Aloe vera
D9 | Ⴄ PREDATORS

Searched by Ren, Seto, and Shion in May 2018. D9 is virtually identical to the regions to either side of it: lipped with waves at its southernmost edge and carpeted with rustling, rippling fields of grass. The odd flower speckles the green-gold mantle, completing an otherwise quite peaceful scene. The closer one draws past the bluffs and toward Ziziphus's edge, the more they might notice some dark patches in the shallows. D9, like much of the shallow waters around Ziziphus, is hosts a small colony of octonettles.

A pair of thick, ropy creepers also attempted to twine around the children and haul them in the direction of Ziziphus's dense woodland, though they proved unsuccessful.

Dangers: Octonettles, hostile vines
Resources: Octonettles
