Applications

Due to LifeAftr approaching endgame, Applications are currently CLOSED, with the exception of returning players and/or characters.

Additionally, please note that applications received on Saturdays may take up to 24 hours to receive a response, particularly if an app is received last minute. Applications received after 12pm est on Saturdays will not be processed until the following weekend.

Prior to starting your application, please check the Taken Page to ensure they are not already in play. Please ensure that you have Reserved the character you wish to apply for; keep in mind that we do not accept application challenges!

There are a total of four application templates which can be used to apply to LifeAftr:

Canon Universe: your standard application. For a character with a solid canon background who is not being brought in from another game, this is the application for you.

Lesser Background: for characters who may not have much canon background to go off of, such as a silent protagonist or NPC. For further clarification on what constitutes for the lesser background app, check our FAQ.

Original Character: for all your OC needs!

CRAU: if importing from another game, please use the CRAU app. This applies whether the character is canon, lesser, or OC. This is also the template to use if you are re-applying your character with their previous LifeAftr memories.

Submission Form

To submit your application, please enter a comment using the template below.
We ask that you put your character name, canon, application type, and whether or not you have reserved your character in the subject header. For readability purposes, we also ask that you link to your application on your journal instead of pasting it into the comment itself.

Only submit your application once you are sure it is complete; as apps are processed throughout the duration of the round, we have no way of tracking if any edits are made after the fact. Likewise, we will only be issuing TDM rewards to those who have proofs at the initial time of submission. TDM rewards are eligible for the TDM corresponding to the current app round only, and require a sustained thread as opposed to merely a top-level.

Those that do not respond to their revisions, Q&A, or acceptance notices within 72 hours will be automatically rejected.

A note on nerfs: In the interest of preserving the game setting, Mettaton will only be able to activate his soul gem three times per day, for a duration of thirty minutes. Attempting to surpass this limit will cause him to black out for the remainder of the day.

Additionally, as Mettaton's body is largely mechanical, he will wake with a sigil imprinted on his back that will allow his robotic body to function.

In regards to nerfs, the mods are happy to confirm that the nerfs proposed are fine to play in game. Additionally, Ignis' app has detailed a need for development for team attacks to be used; please keep in mind that this will apply for any abilities utilized through assistance from Gladio and Prompto as well.

Due to your participation in the Test Drive, Noctis has been awarded a wind-up torch! Guess what's battery powered?

Not this item, that's for sure. The hand crank is all that's necessary to charge it, after which the powerful, warm beam of yellow light will last ten minutes before it must be cranked again. The smooth casing looks like plastic and feels like plastic, and when broken open by fate or misfortune or an overly-curious soul, it will shatter much like plastic would as well.

But inside, one would not find batteries or, indeed, any familiar electronic mechanism at all. Looks like it's also unable to work when broken unless some potentially powerful godlike creature could intervene to make it so. What a shame...

Additionally, please note the following nerfs:

[ ♆ ] For some reason, Finley will not find the saltwater oceans of LifeAftr agreeable. Attempting to swim too far out will result in Finley feeling ill, and if he persists, he will black out and find himself mysteriously awakening back on shore.

[ ♆ ] While it will not be nerfed, the Storyteller will not be happy with the bloodthirsty element of Finley's diet. Potentials to work out alternatives down the road are available.

Well, this is all very anachronistic.

Entomophobes, beware. This particular weapon has a one-time use but is highly potent nonetheless. Upon breaking open, a small swarm of bees will pour out from the receptacle and set upon the nearest living thing to sting the silly daylights out of it. While potentially unsettling and difficult to wield - the various bits and pieces of this weapon feel as though they're still alive, soft and wriggling like sea-dwelling grubs - the fact that the tidepool sickle seems to lubricate itself with a constant slick of saltwater may leave potential opponents with rather nasty wounds to lick. In regards to nerfs, the following restrictions will apply to Shepard:

-Biotic Charge will have a range restriction of 30 feet maximum.
-Incendiary/Cryo ammo abilities, whilst not applicable without a weapon and ammo, will tend to overheat weapons very quickly.
-Biotic abilities will have a longer cool down period; double that of the originals.

Additionally, due to the amount of bionics Shepard has grafted into her person, a sigil will be located on her back to keep her- alive, really. She will be required to recharge this sigil through use of the mana pools noted on the Settings Page.

[ ♆ ] As Crow is a robot, he will wake with a sigil imprinted on his back that will allow his robotic body to function. An IC explanation of this is included in the Storyteller's dream post, linked above.

A note on nerfs:

Due to Ardyn's rather extensive skill-set, the mods would like to oppose additional nerfs in conjunction to the ones already suggested in your application:

[ ♆ ] Ardyn's warping ability will be restricted in parallel to Noctis'; he may only warp to locations within his line of sight, and excessive use of this ability comes with an exhaustion caveat.

[ ♆ ] In regards to magic, the mods are happy for Ardyn to retain basic magic if you'd prefer. These would be the base magic skills, such as fire, blizzard, and so on, with the option to request to upgrade them further down the line to the stronger versions such as fira or blizzaga. All magic in LifeAftr comes with an exhaustion caveat- the more Ardyn uses these abilities, the quicker he will tire out. His healing abilities may remain as described in his application, as they come with their own special caveat.

[ ♆ ] Illusory magic must be nerfed entirely.

[ ♆ ] Finally, in regards to his Starscourge, we are happy with the nerfs already suggested, but would like to add a few more. His regenerative abilities will save him in most instances, however, the more serious the injury, the longer this regeneration will take. It will also not save him from situations that would usually involve instantaneous death, such as beheading, nor save him from any magical ailments. Ardyn will also need to either eat or regenerate at a nearby mana pool at least once a week.

Useful for scaling walls and cliffs - as well as grabbing nearby objects when you don't feel like getting up - the prongs on this tool are both sturdy and rust-proof, guaranteed to last you a long while yet. Be warned that it is capable of carrying one person and one person only, no matter the weight of the individuals in question. Due to your participation in the Test Drive Meme, Roy has been awarded a SafeShield. This small, glass bead roughly the size and shape of a marble appears to be a perfectly useless if quite pretty bauble, up until you take note of the instructions written along its circumference:

"Take me, break me; live in safety."

Once the SafeShield is crushed, it will do exactly that - generating a faint green energy field around your character through which no harm can come to them. Through which...nothing at all can come through to them in the slightest, in fact, so make sure that they've eaten and drank all they needed to before activating it, because with the exception of oxygen and surrounding noise, they're going to be wholly insulated from the rest of the world for the duration of twelve hours.

The SafeShield only works once, so be sure use it wisely.

A note on nerfs:

[ ♆ ] In regards to magic, the mods are happy for Maridian to retain use of most of his abilities if you'd prefer, but it should be noted that all magic in LifeAftr comes with an exhaustion caveat. Maridian will find that excessive use of his Light, including that which is involved in healing, will quickly lead to exhaustion and will require a visit to a mana pool to restore his strength. Protective shields of Light will only be able to withstand one or two heavy hits before giving. Finally, Maridian will, on occasion, fail to properly channel Light; what should be bursts of energy will instead become harmless sputters. Attempting to stretch that limit without use of a mana pool will cause him to black out for the remainder of the day.

[ ♆ ] After some consideration, the mods have agreed that it is acceptable for Maridian to have access to one mount, with the stipulation that the mount cannot be summoned or banished at will; it will have to be a permanent companion that requires food and water like any other living creature.

Sure, you could just eat it right off the bat, but further inspection of the sticky square reveals thin, spidery lettering written along the front:

Upon whispering the words written on the little brown square, the charm will begin to heat up. A note on nerfs;

Due to Thereth's extensive skills, the mods would like to apply the following restrictions:

♆ Summoning of any creatures will not be possible.

♆ Water to ice will not work on the ocean, and in other bodies of water, have a radius of up to ten feet only.

♆ Defensive abilities and party buffs, such as bone-shield, blood to ice, and anti-magic spells come with a magic exhaustion caveat; the more frequently they're used, the faster Thereth will tire. She will either need to recover at the nearest mana pool, or rest until the next day.

♆ As previously discussed on the FAQ, the Storyteller will apply a sigil to Thereth, located on her back. This will circumvent her need to harm others entirely; however, it requires recharging at the nearest mana pool every two weeks. IC information of this is supplied in the Storyteller dream linked above.

The Molecap resembles a miner's hat in many respects - hard and gray and similar to slightly leathery plastic in material, with a mounted light on the front. The beam of light generated will pierce unfailingly through any darkness or dimness in any environment, from caves or caverns to the archipelago's nights.

Considering its vaguely electronic function, it requires "charging" at one of the islands' mana pools after about twelve hours of use. Attempting to disassemble it will render it useless - and you'll need the Storyteller's help to piece it back together.

Due to your participation in the Test Drive Meme, Komaeda has been awarded a sweet clover! And they said interspecies communication wasn't possible.

This small glass jar contains nothing more than a single, four-leafed clover, but as the label on the bottle will suggest, it is no ordinary plant. The bottle reads quite clearly:

"Animals find me irresistible ;)"

And when one uncorks the bottle, they will find that this is precisely the case. Any fauna in the vicinity, prey or predator, bird or beast, will find themselves drawn to the clover as though magnetized. The effect will last until the clover is devoured or stolen by said fauna, or until the bottle is stoppered - whichever comes first.

No matter how careful the owner is, the clover will cease to be fresh after ten hours of use, and it will lose its effect entirely
